The Opening Program of the 46th International Symposium on Excavation, Surveys, and Archaeometry Was Held

The 46th International Symposium on Excavation, Survey and Archaeometry (UKAAS), organized in cooperation between our Ministry and Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University, began with an opening ceremony held at the Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Büyükkasap Congress and Cultural Center of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. The opening program was attended by Erzincan Governor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamza AYDOĞDU, General Director of Cultural Heritage and Museums at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Birol İNCECİKÖZ, Mayor of Erzincan Bekir AKSUN, Rector of Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Prof. Dr. Akın LEVENT, Head of the History Department Prof. Dr. Abdülkadir GÜL, Head of the Hattusha Excavations on behalf of the Symposium Scientific Committee Prof. Dr. Andreas SCHACHNER and Erzincan Member of Parliament Süleyman KARAMAN who all gave speeches.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Erzincan Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Oğuzhan KILIÇ, Erzincan Museum Director Mustafa BAYAM, academic and administrative staff, students, archaeology enthusiasts and guests who were invited.

The 46th symposium, hosted by Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University and to be held between June 8–12, will feature posters related to archaeological excavations, surveys, and archaeometric studies conducted in our country in 2025 by Turkish and foreign scientists with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

During the five-day symposium, simultaneous sessions and presentations will be held in four different halls. A total of 425 papers will be presented by 384 scientists: 276 papers at the Excavation Results Meeting, 89 at the Research Results Meeting, 55 at the Archaeometry Results Meeting, and 5 poster presentations. Scientists from 11 different countries will also participate in the symposium.
