The 45th International Excavations, Surveys and Archaeometry Symposium (UKAAS), held by our Ministry, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums in cooperation with Mersin University at Prof. Dr. Uğur Oral Culture Center on May 26-30, was concluded with a closing ceremony.
Mersin University (MEÜ), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Head of Archaeology Department, Uzuncaburç Excavation Director Prof. Dr. Ümit Aydınoğlu and Deputy Director General of Cultural Heritage and Museums Bülent Gönültaş gave speeches at the closing ceremony.
Archaeological excavations, surveys and archaeometric/anthropological studies carried out by Turkish and foreign scientists in our country in 2024 with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were presented in five separate halls throughout the week.
During the symposium, a total of 432 papers were presented by 382 scientists, including 270 in the Excavation Results Meeting, 96 in the Survey Results Meeting and 66 in the Archaeometry Results Meeting. More than 30 scientists from 11 different countries participated in the symposium.
